Terms of Service for JKD Academy

1. Introduction and Agreement to Terms
Welcome to JKD Academy. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website
By accessing or using our Website, purchasing our products, or participating in our classes, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our Website or services.
2. Services Provided
JKD Academy provides the following services and products:
- In-person martial arts classes.
- Online courses and training content.
- Physical products, including JKD Academy merchandise (e.g., T-shirts) and martial arts training equipment (e.g., headgear, shin guards, mesh goggles).
3. User Accounts and Eligibility
- Account Creation: To access certain services, you may be required to create a user account. You must provide accurate and complete information during the registration process.
- Age Requirement: Our services are intended for individuals who are a minimum of 10 years old. If you are under 18 years old, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate in our services and to create an account. Your parent or legal guardian will be responsible for your compliance with these Terms.
- Account Security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password and are liable for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
- Termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any current or future use of our services if you violate these Terms, including but not limited to engaging in fraudulent activity, infringing on our intellectual property, or demonstrating disrespectful or unsafe behavior.
4. Payments and Refunds
- Payment Policy: All payments for classes, courses, and products are processed upfront.
- No Refund Policy: All payments made to JKD Academy are non-refundable. This policy is final and non-negotiable. It is your responsibility to carefully consider your purchase and commitment before making a payment. By making a payment, you acknowledge and agree to this “no refund” policy.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
All content on the Website, including but not limited to the JKD Academy logo, text, graphics, videos, online course materials, training content, and class curriculum, is the exclusive intellectual property of JKD Academy and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You are prohibited from copying, reproducing, distributing, modifying, transmitting, or using any of our intellectual property without our express written permission. Unauthorized use of our content is a serious violation of these Terms and may result in legal action.
6. Media Consent and Usage
By participating in any classes or events at JKD Academy, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms regarding media (photos and videos):

Our Right to Record: You grant JKD Academy, its staff, and its authorized photographers and videographers an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to take photos and videos of you and other students during training and events. We reserve the right to use this media for any promotional, marketing, or educational purposes, including on social media, our website, and in any other publications, without further consent or compensation.

Waiver of Approval: You waive all rights to review or approve any such media or its use. If you do not wish to be included in any media, it is your responsibility to inform the staff in writing.

Student’s Prohibited Use: To protect the privacy and safety of all participants, the use of any camera, video recorder, or mobile phone to take photos, record videos, or live-stream is strictly prohibited by students within our premises and during all training sessions without our explicit, written approval. Any media you are given permission to take is for personal use only and may not be used for your own marketing, promotion, or commercial purposes.
We reserve the right to confiscate any device used in violation of this policy and may immediately terminate your membership without a refund.
7. Liability Disclaimer and Assumption of Risk
Warning: Participation in martial arts training involves significant risks, including the potential for physical injury, disability, and death.
- Assumption of Risk: By participating in any class, online course, or training activity, you voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks associated with such activities. This includes risks arising from the strenuous nature of the training, close physical contact, use of training equipment, and the actions of other participants.
- Waiver of Liability: You agree to release, waive, and forever discharge JKD Academy, its owners, instructors, employees, and agents from any liability, claims, demands, and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by you or to your property while participating in our services, whether caused by the negligence of JKD Academy or otherwise.
- Medical Fitness: You certify that you are in good physical condition and have no medical conditions that would prevent you from participating in our training activities. We highly recommend that you consult with a physician before starting any new exercise or martial arts program.
- Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold JKD Academy harmless from any claims, damages, expenses, or losses arising out of or resulting from your participation in our services.
- Personal Property: JKD Academy is not responsible for any loss, damage, or theft of your personal property while on our premises.
8. Code of Conduct
All students and users are required to adhere to the following Code of Conduct to ensure a safe and respectful environment:
- Respect: Treat all instructors, staff, and fellow students with respect and courtesy, both in person and online.
- No Harassment: Harassment, bullying, or any form of disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
- Safety First: Follow all instructions from instructors and prioritize safety during all training activities.
- Sportsmanship: Maintain good sportsmanship during all classes and training sessions.
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in immediate suspension or termination of your membership without a refund.
9. Membership Termination
You may terminate your membership with JKD Academy by providing one month’s written notice and making a payment equal to one month’s training fee.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of the Website and our services after the posting of any changes constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
